At The Donut Shop: In A White Shirt And Linen Trousers

I have always been a morning person who is early to rise and dreams of being early to bed.  My appetite is in sync with my body clock and breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day. One of my favorite breakfasts of all time, and for as long as I can remember,  is donuts and coffee. If the nutritional content of donuts was not so poor, I would eat donuts morning after morning after morning…

I am particularly fond of donuts from the many independent ‘mom and pop’ donut shops that dot the Californian landscape.  While I would still eat a donut from one of the big brands, these donuts are the closest to my heart. As a donut aficionado, I find these shops invariably have better tasting donuts as the dough is prepared fresh, early in the morning, on a daily basis. My favorite donuts are the family of buttermilk donuts and I oscillate between the chocolate buttermilk, maple buttermilk and glazed buttermilk depending on which one my taste buds are requesting.

One of the many things that I look forward to when I visit my parents during summer holidays are my almost daily trips to the donut shop. My local favorite is ‘Sierra Donuts’ and the lovely couple who run it are as happy to see me, as I am them and their donuts, on my yearly visits!

A white shirt and linen trousers are a ‘no-brainer’ combination on a sunny morning.  Flat sandals and a colorful bag were my accessories of choice this morning.  I think this must have been the most dressed up the donut shop people have ever seen me, as I usually show up in gym clothes (not because I plan to exercise after but they are just the easiest things to put on in the morning).

As my vacation draws to a close, I am cherishing my daily donut even more. I will miss you, my deep-fried friend, but in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger – “I’ll be back!”

Grey and Red Sweaters: A Stroll Through Bloomsbury

One side effect of having lived in many countries for extended periods of time is that I often miss the places that I am currently not living in.  At times, I will hear an American accent and I will feel a great longing to be home in Los Angeles. Other times, I will catch a snippet of Hindi on the underground and memories of Mumbai will come flooding back (and subsequently I will often mutter to myself in Hindi). However, I always find that the cure to my temporary melancholy lies in wandering around London.  Meandering through the capital always reminds me of the breathtaking beauty of the city I live in.  London’s aura is phenomenal and every time I experience it,  I become thankful for this new adventure and grateful that I have had the opportunity to experience life in so many lovely places. I took a stroll through Bloomsbury yesterday and was reminded once again of how much I enjoy London! As always, thanks for reading!

The Ultimate Comfort: Jeans and Sneakers

Happy Monday morning! – the weekend already seems like a distant memory!  Mondays are always exciting for the infinite possibilities they unlock as the first day of the week but there is always a part of me that wishes I was back in jeans and sneakers (trainers).  I enjoy wearing the entire gamut of sneakers from high-tops to converse and everything in between.  The only kind of sneaker I have never purchased is the wedge-heeled sneaker but I do like the look on friends. Often, sneakers are viewed as a ‘throw-on and go’ shoe but personally I find that with a little bit of styling, a sneaker look can bring the chic into casual! I am always on the lookout for a great sneaker and I love wearing them with jeans, trousers and dresses. Thanks for reading and have a great week!
